When you publish a new article, are you plagued with crickets?

Are there only 5 people on your email list – your mom and your best friends?

Would you like to reach and serve more people online, but it’s not happening?

Is getting traffic online an issue for you, still?

Are you still not getting blog traffic online? Here’s why you are not getting noticed.

Why your website is still getting no traffic! Here are 10 key reasons why so that you can increase your website traffic on the internet. If your blog and online business is still invisible online, it's time to get visible and get your digital marketing game up.
Pin me, pal!

1. You keep trying what doesn’t work

Let’s just face it… how many of you are posting and posting and not changing up what you are trying despite having lackluster results?

Don’t worry, I have been there. I was hobby blogging for years before I decided to take it more seriously.

In fact, it took a corporate stint in digital marketing to open my eyes to what I was doing wrong.

For starters, I was blogging about anything cute and funny, without having any kind of content strategy or promotional strategy.

2. You are not building your list and focusing on it

Last week, I wrote a heartfelt post about focusing on building your email list and not your traffic.

Why?

Getting more traffic does not necessarily lead to sales, but more conversions will.

If you are still obsessing over page views, I highly recommend that you read the post: Warning: Don’t just focus on traffic. {strong opinion inside}

Getting more traffic is just one part of building your list. The focus should be on getting more subscribers.

Traffic comes and go, but the key to building a sustainable audience is to build a list of engaged readers who know, like, and trust you.

That way, you can email them when you have something new – they will revisit your website, and as you accumulate more subscribers, your list of engaged visitors grows and grows.

If you don’t build your email list of engaged readers, you may find that your blog is like a leaky bowl, no matter how much traffic you direct at it, they never seem to stick around much.

If you are not building your list, you need to start today.

Pick a mentor and learn from him/her.

This could be through a course, through 1:1 coaching – whatever it is, get some guidance and build a solid plan that will help grow your audience for you.

4. You scare yourself into thinking it is not possible

How many of us think that we need millions of readers or a huge list to build a full-time business online?

The truth is that you only need a small list of subscribers to build a full-time business. It’s not just about the quantity of your list but the quality.

I’ve known of bloggers who only have few hundred or few thousand subscribers and they have 5-figure launches.

When I had my first sale, my email list had only, like, 20 subscribers?

Sometimes we make building a sustainable audience seem like an insurmountable goal and lose the hope and momentum we need to grow our audience with faith.

5. You are too comfortable being small

I don’t know about you – but when someone is pushed into a corner, they tend to excel under pressure because they have no choice.

Like when someone gets laid off, or when they are taunted and determined to prove the world wrong.

The problem with many of us? We are too comfortable with where we are.

Even though we have a goal of building our list, we don’t get off our butts and invest in our businesses or learn new strategies to take our blogs and businesses to the next level.

6. Your SEO is done all wrong

Getting your content optimized correctly for Google is very important.

Search traffic is paramount in your journey to become visible because it is traffic that comes back again and again.

You need to master the SEO game if you want to succeed online.

These days, an alternative to Google traffic is Pinterest, which acts as a search engine as well. However, I would advice you to master both Pinterest and Google as it is not wise to keep all your eggs in one basket.

7. Your writing skills need to be improved

It’s 2019 – it’s not just about pushing out blog post after blog post anymore. There are so many blog posts being published online, in the time that you took to read this article, hundreds of articles would already be published.

I’ve seen many bloggers write sub-par posts riddled with typos and writing mistakes. Don’t get me wrong, content is most important, and a few mistakes here and there are okay.

However, some of you would probably need to brush up on your writing skills.

8. You don’t know what you’re doing wrong

Which brings me to my next point – bloggers don’t know what they are doing wrong that’s causing their traffic and email list growth to stall.

For instance, bloggers with bad writing skills don’t know that they are still invisible because their blog posts are bad.

They would be blaming it on their Pinterest strategy, their niche, anything but the real problem.

A blind spot is called a blind spot for a reason. It means that you can’t see it on your own unless someone points it out to you.

9. Your website screams amateur

While we’re at it, another blind spot is having an extremely ugly site.

First impressions matter.

When you head to a party and a guy dressed sloppily, who looks like he hasn’t showered for days, approaches you – what will you be thinking?

If your website looks bad, it will be really difficult to convince someone to hand over their email address, or their hard-earned cash to you.

I’m not saying that you need a $50,000 website. But you do need a decent looking site at the very least.

Here are popular themes I recommend that are well maintained, with the necessary functions you will need:

  • Divi (great for beginners, easily customizable)
  • Studiopress with Genesis framework (if you know a little coding)
  • Your Stunning Website (if you’re new, I offer this to help you out – its a done-for-you website kit built with Divi with a Your Stunning Website template, so you get a high-functioning site that looks great out of the box, all at a fraction of the cost of Divi)

10. You don’t see the value an audience will bring you

Most beginner entrepreneurs aren’t willing to invest in their business because they don’t see the true value that having an audience can bring to their lives.

If I tell you that each subscriber is worth $5 to you, would you invest and put in more effort into growing your list?

What can you do with your subscribers? What will you sell them? If you open your eyes to just what each subscriber can do for your business, you would find yourself making bigger and better decisions.

Writing more consistently. Investing in ads. Getting Tailwind instead of pinning manually to save a few bucks. Getting the education you need to learn how to grow your audience. The list goes on.
